Valencia: City of Arts and Sciences

Friday 7/5: A long public park winds through the middle of Valencia, occupying a dried up riverbed that was created when the river was redirected around the city. The park culminates near the coastline in the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias; a complex of museums, theaters, and exhibits designed by architect/engineer Santiago Calatrava. We visited the city on Friday and saw an IMAX movie at L'Hemisfèric, about the Valencian version of the Bonfires of San Juan (which happens in March and goes by the name Falles). After that we toured El Palau, the massive structure which houses 5+ theaters and auditoriums (the above pictures are all of the Palau).
